Pizza and a Purpose – Heritage Radio at Roberta’s

pizza @ roberta's, bushwick

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting two people for lunch at Roberta’s in Bushwick Brooklyn. As I approached the place I was really nervous at what seemed like a complete hole in the wall but as I walked in I was pleasantly surprised at the open air space, lots of natural light and family style picnic table seating arrangement. The restaurant serves an interesting mix of fresh local food but to my own conclusion appears to specialize in pizza. I tried a really tasty margherita with fresh basil Yum! (I really need to cook with basil more). I also tried the potato’s and mint lemonade which I’m definitely having at the next social event at my house.  and just when I thought it was done…

Just outside the restaurants back door was a recently constructed  trailer like cottage which is the home of the Heritage Radio Network an  internet based station that has several programs most of which seem to be talking about fresh, local and sustainable food. The show that caught my eye on the website “Cheap Date” I suppose it’s a How To  - eating and dating on a budget. Great concept. While at Roberta’s I sat in on a live radio interview about Zingerman’s Community of businesses with Moe and Paul.
